| Sun protection.

Whether you’re on a beach vacation or an urban trip, you should protect yourself from the sun’s harmful rays.

Annabella takes medication that makes her extremely sun sensitive, so we have located a couple of products that make travel safer and more comfortable.

Wherever we go, she carries our UV-Blocker umbrella. This product is unbeatable. It has a 55+ UPF rating, blocking harmful UVA/UVB rays, and it keeps you 15 degrees cooler! It has a mesh lining and is amazingly sturdy and wind resistant even though its light.

It has the UV-Blocker logo on one panel, which we think helps people understand its purpose. Check out their website and protect yourself!

Before discovering the UV umbrella, my wife tried to make do with regular rain umbrellas, which didn’t work too well. At the Ayutthaya ruins in Thailand there wasn’t a drop of shade, so she bought a large umbrella at a kiosk for 200 Baht (about $5). It had decent sun protection, but was large and awkward, and it snapped in half when we flew back to the USA.

Annabella likes to use her umbrella in conjunction with our LL Bean Sun Shade Tent. If you set the umbrella in the sand, it can shade your feet where the shade doesn’t reach.

The Sun Shade fully collapsed and can be packed in a larger backpack or suitcase and weighs just 5 lbs. It takes a little while to get the knack of it, but it comes with instructions sewn right inside the bag.
